I have, recently, been testing a Fitbit blaze to see if I can recommend it to overworked senior managers in school. It is fantastic for keeping an eye on heart rate, movement and sleep patterns. The one fly in the ointment is that it doesn’t receive email notifications. However, I have solved that problem.
Using IFTTT.com (a free tool for automating various aspects of the web and apps) I have created a recipe (that’s what they are called) which will send me a text when I get an email from certain people of my choosing.
So, at the moment, I have a small and select group who will trigger an alert on the phone. A senior manager could have the senior team and Chair of Governors or, if his/her PA gets all their mail, just have the PA filtering what is important. If you have IFTTT.com the recipe ID is 36737970 so you don’t have to create it yourself. I have restricted it to the subject because, otherwise, it will send multiple texts with all the information on it.
You will then need to go in to your email client to set up a forwarding rule to firstname.lastname@example.org.
That’s it! Let me know how it goes!
